Problem description  

The sealing connection is stressed by an internal pressure. If the internal pressure drops below approx. 20 N/mm² load on the gasket, the sealed connection opens. A next start-up is only possible after changing the gasket or the sealing connection is tightened after reaching the maximum pressure under pressure and temperature.

Requirements for a re-equipment

• no restriction on the number of start-up and shut-down processes
• Lifetime >3-6 years
• external checked documentation

Solutions

• Calculation of the optimal / permissible installation screw forces
• Reduction of the gasket width
• The gasket is placed blow-out-safed and safe against overloading
• Use of additional spring columns
• Checking and, if necessary, revision of the sealing surfaces

Design limits

• Design pressure: up to approx. 200 bar
• Design temperature: up to approx. 400°C
• Gasket diameter: oval up to an external dimension of approx. 700 mm
• Screw size: up to approx. M48 / 2 inch
